Embark on an enriching 8-day journey through Southern Ethiopia, where ancient traditions meet vibrant tribal cultures. Explore the Omo Valley, meet indigenous communities like the Hamar, Mursi, and Konso, and witness colorful ceremonies and authentic ways of life in one of Africa’s most culturally diverse regions.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Addis Ababa

Arrive in Addis Ababa and be welcomed by our representative, then transfer to your hotel. If time allows, embark on a city tour of Addis Ababa, visiting the National Museum (home of Lucy, the earliest human skeleton), Trinity Cathedral, and the bustling Merkato Grand Open Market.

Accommodation: Radisson Blu Hotel or Similar BB

Drive to Arbaminch with a stop to visit the Halaba people. In the afternoon, drive to Chencha Mountain to visit the Dorze people and their unique beehive-like structure hats.

Accommodation: Paradise Lodge or Similar BLD

Take a short morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to see African crocodiles and birdlife. Then drive to Key Afer Market, where different ethnic groups of the Omo Valley come together in harmony.

Accommodation: Jinka Resort or Similar BLD

Drive to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people, known for their distinctive lip and ear adornments. Return to Jinka for lunch and then proceed to Turmi for a visit to the Hammer people and Keyafer Market (on Thursdays).

Accommodation: Buska Lodge or Similar BLD

Drive to the Karo people’s village, known for their unique Omotic culture. Return to Turmi and visit Dimeka Market in the afternoon (if Tuesday or Saturday).

Accommodation: Buska Lodge or Similar BLD

Drive to the Dasench people’s village, crossing the Omo River with a wooden boat. Return to Turmi for lunch and then drive to Konso to visit their UNESCO-recorded village.

Accommodation: Kenta Lodge or Similar BLD

Drive to Hawassa through Arbaminch, with stops at scenic spots. Arrive in the lakeside city of Hawassa for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation: Haile Resort or Similar BLD

Early morning bird watching by the lakeside and a visit to the fish market. Take a boat trip on Lake Hawassa to observe different birds and hippos. In the afternoon, drive to Addis Ababa for last-minute shopping. Farewell dinner party at a traditional restaurant and transfer to the airport for your return journey.
